How it hurts soooo many people!

I live to the fullest everyday.

Pray for everyone's pain and suffering.

animic—I also have lupus and this was found on a routine blood test. I had no other symtoms. Had I got a colonoscopy one year earlier at age 50, I probably would not have got cancer. Please have a colonoscopy at least by age 50! Earlier if there is a family history or if you have symtoms.

6-03 stage 3 colon cancer. Removed right colon, gallbladder, ovaries and lymph nodes (one positve)
12-06 stage 4 colon/liver cancer. Had 1/3 liver removed and swollen nodes near by (positive). Detected by CEA blood test-the pet scan. Did 28 days of radiation, then onto oral chemo therapy. I take Xeloda 21 days a month. I have been on this now for 8 months.
Febuary 08- spread to lungs—now on chemo therapy IV’s (folfox6, Avastin 5FU-levo and Oxi) 6 hours one day-4 hours next day and wear fanny pack filled with chemo for 48 hours at the same time as treatments. I do this every other week.

28 days after second surgery. Felt ok until the last week in which I was very tired.

6-03—36 weeks of IV chemo therapy. Had problems with severe diarrah, nausa and fatigue 3 days out of 7. Slightly ill the rest of the days with same symtoms, but milder.
2007—doing much better on chemo therapy by adding alternitves. (read below)
12-07- oral Xeloda (chemo therapy). Take for 2 weeks straight 2 times a day, then one week off. Side effects are slight now that I take fermented wheat germ, green wheatgrass and mangoseed juice. The juice improved my energy level a lot! I think we are seeing some results from the fermented wheatgerm as we are now starting to see on my cat scans that things have kind of stopped. In the England Cancer Journal they have proved that fermented wheat germ can slow and sometime cure cancers. The mangoseed juice is made in Asia, this is the only place it grows. It is extremely high levels of antioxidants! Knock on wood I haven’t been sick since I started it! I also only eat organic (as much as I can) I eat lot’s of greens and fruits. I get protein from the grains and I also eat a lot of nuts. I have felt so much better since doing this it is unbelievable.. I have hand and foot syndrome that this chemo can cause..this can/is be very painful.
Febuary 08-New treatments of folfox6, Avastin and 5FU—extreme fatigue-nausa-diarreha-controled by medications for the most part. Need to rest a lot.

COLD!Views: 2700

Boy is it ever cold here! A good day to stay in. I have pea soup cooking which will be nice to warm us up.

I am still eating Organic as much as I can. The pea soup is all Organic, down to the carrot’s and peas.

I am finding it pretty easy going to a near by health food store to get most of our food. I am really impressed what is out there that I had no clue of. I even got some Organic fish sticks! My husband loved them along with the Organic potatoes (fries). I got 5 kinds of nuts to munch on too. And, I found the Muscadine grape seed tablets there too. I have been looking all over for them. It says on the bottle that it can help with menopause! YEAH! Ever since they took my ovaries I have been having these hot flashes (WOW) and more! I am on an ALL natural hormone cream that my Dr. had made up to fit my system…waiting for it to work! Hope it helps. I haven’t been on it very long.

Well, enough of all that health talk. How is everyone doing? Check I with me and let me know ok?

Blessings to all…Sue

Hey Sue,
Wow, you write every day. I can’t keep up with you! I try to eat organic too, but it isn’t always easy, AND it is more expensive. What are the grape seeds about?

I am fine. Had my three days of chemo this week, it was the 3rd of six treatments. My WBCs had been low so I had to wait a week for treatment. I started back on Neulasta which I so hated last time around. But I am great today, no bone pain at all. Knock on wood.

I am getting my son ready to go to University of Hawaii. The whole family is going with him on Jan.7th to settle him in to his apartment. I will miss him so. He has been home with me for the last year and a half and I have loved it. He couldn’t go to school in the fall as he was sick. I think fate stepped in to have him stay near me. But I am strong now, even though my markers aren’t great, but I think he can be away. I still have my 19 year old daughter with me. She is at the community college so lives at home.

I am celebrating 12 months since diagnosis. I am still here, and still going strong! The gamma knife radiation worked and my brain tumors disappeared! Too bad they can’t zap all of the other ones (liver, pelvis, spine). Well, let’s take what we can get. Take care. Stay warm. I made egg drop soup today. It was yummy. But it is 55 here in No. California today and the rain has stopped for the next week, so I am spoiled.

Sue, thank you for all your support and encouragment….really appreciate it. God Bless!

It is snowing, snowing, snowing here. Snuck out for a quick hike and now I am curled up in bed. Had a green juice today. Trying to do more juicing. This one was apple, spinach and celery. So yummie. Apple is so sweet it makes anything taste good.

Jll try juicing apples and carrotts…soooo goood!

Totally going to try that. I like ginger too. Have you tried that? A little bit harder to peel and I am all about EASY, but still really good.

wow…they must have taped the show pretty quickly after the producer posted on our blogs! sorry you couldn’t go, I’ll look forward to seeing the show. hope all is well with you!
Josi

Sue,
I am originally from Michigan. I don’t miss the cold and snow one bit. If you get tired of the cold you can come visit me in Florida.
It will be sunny and the low 80’s tomorrow. You are telling me to go to h… aren’t you?
I saw Josie’s post and I am confused. After the producer posted on our blogs, I talked to her 3 times that day and a few e-mails and she said everything was approved and she would call Monday with the flight details. Monday, I got an e-mail from her that they had a big meeting and Montel had to leave the country that week so taping was going to be post-poned. What’s up?
I now see it on the Montel website as airing Thursday. They are talking about “6 months to live” as opposed to “Legacy” but it is pretty close. Same show?

Hi Sue,
I am in Ohio, but grew up in Michigan. My whole family lives there still. I understand the cold… it’s so bitter here in Ohio also. We live in the “snowbelt” region near Cleveland. I’m going to sit on the couch today with a good book by the fire! Have you tried “Gogi Berries?” I don’t know if I’ve spelled the name correctly. They’re loaded with antioxidants I guess. They have an unusual taste, but I’ve been buying these and eating them a lot. You can get them at most health food stores. Stay warm!

Sue,

I am a huge advocate for organic food as well as green foods. My entire family is basically eating vegeterian now with an emphasis on green. I live in Dallas, Texas and we are having some kind of artic blast. Yesterday it waas 80 and today the high is 35. Turn up the heat!

Kelly-no, I never heard of Gogi Berries, but I will look for them.

It is ugly here, cold, icy winter. But, thank goodness not like some states that have no power! That would be awful!

My feet feel pretty good now as I am still on my short chemo break.I feel wonderful! I didnt realize how much the chemo was affecting me—fatqiue wise until now.

We are having 5 new windows put in tomorrow. The window store said it is no big deal for them to do them in the cold. It is like 17’! I hope they do them fast as it will probably get pretty cold in here while they are doing them.

I hope you’re all doing well. Please do not stress out because of the Hoilday’s. We always do too much anyway. Right?
